What’s Inside a Yardblox Fabrics Swatch Sample Pack

What’s Inside a Yardblox Fabrics Swatch Sample Pack

Choosing the right fabric is an important part of every project, whether you’re developing a new clothing line, designing a capsule collection, or sewing for yourself. At Yardblox Fabrics, our free swatch program makes it easy to explore our fabrics up close before committing to yardage. Here’s what’s included in each Yardblox swatch card and how to make the most of it.

What’s Included in a Yardblox Swatch Card

Each Yardblox swatch card is clearly labeled with fiber content, width, weight (GSM), style number, and color code, everything you need to compare fabrics accurately.

If you’d like more technical details, you can also refer to our website, where we list stretch percentages, performance features, special finishes, and fabric certifications.

Depending on the fabric, your swatch card may feature two types of samples:

  • A larger handfeel sample:
This is provided in a randomized color, allowing you to touch, stretch, and assess the fabric’s drape and texture. Please note that this color may not match your selected shade.
  • A small color chip of your choice:
If your handfeel sample is in a different color, you’ll also receive a small color chip in your chosen shade. The color chip is small, and mainly intended to help you check color accuracy, as hues can appear differently on digital screens compared to real life. However, please note that dye lots can vary, so there may still be slight tone differences between your swatch and your final fabric order.

If you ordered more than 1 color chip from the same style, you will only receive 1 larger hand-feel sample in a randomized color, along with all the color chips of your choice.

Our swatches may come in different shapes and sizes depending on the style.

Why We Offer Swatches

Our swatches are free and designed to give you a clear preview of the fabric before committing to sample yardage. They make online fabric shopping easier by allowing you to see and feel the fabric in person, understand the quality, and compare similar styles side by side, helping you make confident and informed choices.

While these small samples provide an excellent first look, we always recommend ordering at least 1 yard if you need to test suitability for garments or production, especially for processes like sustainable dyeing, sublimation, or printing. Every fabric reacts differently, and testing with a 1 yard cut ensures you can observe how it behaves and performs for your specific application.

How to Order Yardblox Swatches

Every customer can receive 6 free swatches per month, perfect for sampling new collections or comparing different fabric types for home sewing projects.  Simply browse through our store, and you will find a 'order free swatch' button for all fabrics that are part of our swatch program.

If you need more than 6 swatches, you can add an Extension Pack to get 6 additional swatches so the maximum you can order per 30 days is 12 swatches in total.

Each customer can order 6 free swatches every 30 days, plus 1 Extension Pack for an extra 6, giving you up to 12 swatches per month to explore. The limit applies per customer (not per account) so everyone has a fair chance to sample our fabrics. If you need more, you can simply place another order once your 30-day window resets.  For instance, if you’d like 24 swatches, you can start with 6 free + 1 Extension Pack, then place another 6 free + 1 Extension Pack order after 30 days.

If you’re a brand looking to review the full colorway of a particular style, you can also order our complete color cards, which showcase all available shades for that fabric base, ideal for design teams and sourcing comparisons.

SWATCH FAQ

1. Why should I order swatches?
Ordering swatches lets you see the true color, texture, and drape of a fabric in person. Screen displays and lighting can alter how fabrics appear online, so samples ensure you’re confident before placing your yardage order.

2. What size are your swatches?
Swatches typically come as one small color chip (Can be as small as 1"x1") and, one larger hand-feel piece in a random color to help you understand texture, weight, and stretch.

3. Why are my color chips so small?
Our color swatches are designed to show accurate color without creating waste. Many fabrics come in wide color ranges, and smaller chips allow us to provide more options sustainably.

4. How do I evaluate my project if I don’t receive a larger piece?
The small color chip allows you to see the true color, while the larger random piece helps you assess the drape and texture. These are meant to give a preview of the fabric’s color and quality. If you need to test the fabric in your design or sewing process, sample yardage can be purchased starting from 1 yard.

5. Can I test dyeing or sublimation on the swatches?
Swatches are for visual and tactile reference only. Because of their small size, we don’t recommend using them for dye or sublimation testing. If you’d like to test print or dye performance, please contact purchase 1 yard for testing.

6. Why don’t you offer a larger piece in the exact color I want?
Our swatch program is intended to help you preview color and quality, not to provide fabric for sampling or prototyping. Larger pieces in specific colors can be purchased by the yard through our standard fabric listings.
