Quality Control Standard
THE 4-POINT SYSTEM
At Yardblox, we understand the significance of quality control when it comes to fabrics, and we are committed to maintaining stringent standards. We take thorough measures to ensure that every piece of fabric we sell adheres to industry standards. To achieve this, all our fabric vendors follow the widely recognized 4-point system for fabric inspections. This system operates on a penalty point basis, where deductions ranging from 1 - 4 points are made for different types of defects, with 4 points representing the highest deduction for major defects.
The grading process is determined by the number of penalty points per 100 square yards. The acceptable average penalty points in the industry typically fall within the range of 20 to 40 points, depending on factors such as fabric construction, fabric type, yarn size, fabric weight, finishing, and more.
If you would like more detailed information about the complete calculation of the 4-point fabric inspection and how it is measured, please feel free to contact us via info@yardblox.com. Alternatively, if you place a bulk order, we will provide you with this information to ensure complete transparency and reassurance.
DEFECT DEFINITION
Based on the 4-point system mechanism, there are 2 types of defects that are commonly found in fabric inspection. Yardblox will only process the item exchange if the fabric contains any major defects.
Major Defect: A defect severe enough, if exposed, would cause the end item to be a second*.
Minor Defect: An imperfection that may or may not cause a second, depending upon its location in the end item and/or its chance of being lost in fabrication. No penalty points are assigned to minor defects in the fabric inspection process.
*A “second” is a garment with a conspicuous defect that affects the salability or serviceability of the item.

Some fabrics may contain special features that may be seen as a defect, we strongly encourage you to double check the product description, image & video in the product page, care instruction, and most importantly to place a swatch order before any yardage orders to ensure fabric accuracy. Before making any bulk orders, we also strongly recommend you place sample orders to ensure that the quality of the product meet your expectations for bulk production.
The following scenarios are excluded and will NOT be considered as a defect:
COLOR VARIATION
The color of fabrics as depicted online cannot be guaranteed by Yardblox due to variances beyond our control. We take every step necessary to ensure accurate color representation of items displayed online, with photos and videos listed in every product page as a guide. Color variation CANNOT be considered as a fabric defect which is why we highly recommend ordering swatches before the final purchase of material.
Important:
- Depending on the setting in which the fabric or product is viewed upon, the coloration will also vary due to temperatures in overhead lighting; e.g. daylight, LED, fluorescent, etc.
- Monitor calibration and display settings are NOT universal.
- It cannot be guaranteed that the swatch samples and the actual product will be the exact same color due to dye-lot-variations. We will notify you regarding dye-lot variations beforehand if there is a large difference.
- Some particular types of fabrics suffer inherent color bleeding for a few washes. Instructions for such fabric is clearly mentioned on the Care Information page.
YARDAGE SHORTAGE
Whilst we try to be as accurate as possible, it cannot always be guaranteed that each yard will be measured to exactly 91.4 cm. We always recommend rounding up and to order at least 1 extra yard of what you need. For orders less than 10 yards, we cannot process any refunds for any shortage that is less than 10cm/yard ordered.
TOLERANCE FOR SHRINKING
In the manufacturing of bulk orders, the possibility of fabric shrinking is inevitable, with some materials being more susceptible than others. This is a common industry occurrence, and widely accepted as a tolerance for shrinking. As a result, the produced quantity may slightly vary from the ordered amount. In these situations, transparency and customer satisfaction are our top priorities. If there's a shortfall, rest assured, we'll promptly contact you to arrange a refund for the shrinkage amount. In cases where production exceeds the order due to fabric characteristics, we proactively discuss solutions with you before finalizing the order to ensure an agreeable outcome.
CREASES/WRINKLES
We strive to provide cost-effective solutions for the benefit of our customers by folding and shipping our fabrics, which may result in the fabric arriving with creases or wrinkles. We want to assure you that this is completely normal and does not affect the quality of the fabric. Any minor creases or wrinkles are temporary and can be easily resolved to restore the fabric's desired appearance by simply pressing or steaming the fabric. Alternatively, if you wish to ship your fabric order in fabric roll, an additional cost will be applied. Please contact us for more information.
